2007 Domaine De La Romanee Conti Romanee Conti La Tache Grand Cru Monopole
Burghound 94
An intensely floral and ultra-fresh and spicy nose combines notes of various red berries, Asian-style tea and wisps of sandalwood. There is moderately good density to the delicious and intensely mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent delineation on the driving and still somewhat youthfully austere finish. Compared to what is normal for La Tâche 2007 is a lighter-weight vintage though I underscore that this is a dense wine in the context relative to the typical 2007. While the ’07 LT could certainly be enjoyed now, especially if given 30 minutes or so of air, to my taste it is still clearly on the way up and would best be held for another 5 to 7 years first.
